Here are five ways to bring a little more balance to your daily routine:
1. Treat yourself
All work and no play is a surefire way to throw off a balanced life. Wherever you’re logging your hours—at home, the office, the gym, or anywhere else—be sure to treat yourself when the work is done! Even during a hectic day, you can take 10 or 15 minutes to do something that will recharge your batteries, get a pedicure or a facial, better yet, schedule a steamy shower! It doesn’t need to be costly; a glass of wine, your favorite coffee or tea, a delightfully scented candle or beautiful flowers will make a huge impact. You have to make a little time for the things that ignite your joy. It can be anything, big or small, that helps you refocus and recharge.
2. Assess your life as it is now.
Take some time to really look at your life, your state of mind, and how you’re feeling. Be honest with yourself and notice the areas of your life that you’re neglecting. None of us can really know how well we are doing with change in our lives unless we are willing to reassess our position. Make time for yourself every day, in a quiet meditative state, to relax.
3. Catch some sleep.
People with a balanced life recognize that prioritizing their day takes energy. Sleep is very important for our daily life. Increase your chances for a restful night’s sleep by practicing healthy sleep habits like having the same bedtime and wake time every day, shying away from screens an hour before bed, and creating a nighttime routine that tells your body it’s time to sleep.
4. Get moving.
It’s hard to make time for exercise when you have a jam-packed schedule, but it may ultimately help you get more done by boosting your energy level and ability to concentrate.
Regular exercise benefits nearly every aspect of your life. For example, exercise can improve mood, boost energy, and lead to better sleep, meaning a happier, healthier, more balanced you. Whether you are walking the block, or dancing, do something at least a few times a week to raise your heart rate and your spirits.

Make a date with your significant other, have coffee with a friend, play a game with a child. Also Offering service and compassion to others can bring a fresh perspective to your life, and the more time you spend caring for others, the more content and happy you feel. It could be something as simple as a visit to a lonely neighbor or a kind note to a struggling friend. Whatever it is, do something to get out of your head and brighten someone else’s day!
6) Maintain a positive mental attitude.
Part of living a well-balanced life is learning how to deal with adversity, unforeseen events and uncertainty. If you practice not letting things get to you, you will not only learn to live a well balanced and less stressful life, you will learn to live in and savor the moment. Free up your energy by letting go of things you can’t control. Part of life is allowing some situations to be what they are and not trying to force them to become something else. While we can’t anticipate and plan for everything in our lives, we can decide how, where and when to concentrate our energies.
