How to clean essential oil diffusers

Diffusing essential oils is one of the easiest yet most effective ways for you to experience the aromatic benefits of your favorite essential oil. Over time, your diffuser will develop an oil buildup that potentially can prevent it from working properly. In order to enjoy more benefits associated with using it, you need to keep your diffuser in good working condition. Keeping your diffuser in good working condition will not only help your oils smell better and cleaner, it will extend the life of your device. There are some simple steps to follow to clean a typical diffuser, these are as follows:

1. Make sure your diffuser is unplugged from its power outlet before attempting to clean it and start the process of cleaning it right away.

2. Fill your diffuser about half way with clean water. You should fill it with clean water to the maximum line.

3. Add up to 10 drops of pure white vinegar. The vinegar drops will mix with water and aid in removing foreign particles and oils which may have been stuck on the walls of the glass.

4. Plug in the diffuser and let it run for about 3-5 minutes to allow the water-vinegar mixture to disperse throughout the unit and clean it.

5. Empty all the water and vinegar so that you will reach different parts which have developed hard stains.

6. Using a cotton swab dipped in vinegar, clean the tight spots and corners of the diffuser to make sure that no spots are left dirty.

7. Add clean water and rinse, then plug in the diffuser and let it run for about 3 minutes so that the water will reach different areas. you should use clean water without any detergents to avoid leaving some of the detergents which will affect the aroma of the essential oils. After the diffuser has run for the 3 minutes, empty it and dry it.

8. Use a dry cloth, or more cotton swabs or cotton balls to wipe the diffuser and dry it thoroughly.

9. Be attention: be sure to keep the body of your diffuser and all of its buttons dry. Never immerse the outer body of your diffuser in any liquid.

 You would better clean out your diffuser every time you use a different oil. Or once a week regardless if you have not changed oils. This is all it takes to give your diffuser a really thorough clean. Like most cleaning, the more often you do it the easier and quicker it will be each time.
